The Birth of Bluebonnet Books

"A writer only begins a book. A reader finishes it." – Samuel Johnson

Every book is a journey. Every author, a storyteller with a voice waiting to be heard. I created Bluebonnet Books because I believe in those voices—especially the ones that might otherwise go unheard.

My path to publishing wasn’t traditional. I’ve spent my career weaving between two worlds—marketing and education—both of which have shaped me, challenged me, and ultimately led me here.

I started in marketing, drawn to the puzzle of it—the challenge of crafting messages, connecting with audiences, and making something resonate. Then, I transitioned into education, where I discovered an even deeper love: helping others grow, learn, and realize their potential. It was during that time that I published my own book, Bluebonnets and Grass Burrs, through Phoenix Pyre Publishing. That experience changed everything.

I fell in love with the publishing process—the editing, the storytelling, the way words could be shaped into something lasting. But it took returning to marketing to truly see where I belonged. I had the skills, the knowledge, the passion—I had just been applying them in the wrong industry. Now, I’m bringing it all together.

The Meaning Behind Bluebonnet Books

The bluebonnet isn’t just a flower; it’s an icon where I’m from—Bruceville-Eddy, Texas. It’s a symbol of home, of resilience, of beauty thriving in the harshest conditions. It blankets the landscape every spring, returning after storms and droughts, standing tall against the Texas sun. That perseverance speaks to me. It’s the same perseverance that writers need when chasing their dreams.

As Emily Dickinson wrote, “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul.” To me, hope is also the thing with petals—spreading across fields, defying the odds. Just like the authors I want to support.

Building a Legacy of Storytelling

I don’t just want to publish books; I want to elevate stories that deserve to be told. Traditional publishing often shuts out new authors, and self-publishing can be overwhelming and isolating. That’s why I chose a hybrid publishing model—to give authors the best of both worlds.

Bluebonnet Books is about partnership. Whether you’re an emerging writer needing guidance or an experienced author seeking creative control, I want to provide a space where you feel valued, empowered, and celebrated.

New Beginnings—For Authors and for Me

Spring is a time of renewal, and just like the bluebonnet marks a fresh season, this company marks a new chapter in my life. I’m taking what I love—reading, editing, writing—and turning it into a career that uplifts others. This isn’t just a business. It’s a calling.

"The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it." – Dylan Thomas

I want to add more than poems. I want to add novels, memoirs, children’s books—stories that touch hearts and shape futures.

If you’re an author looking for a place where your words will be nurtured, where your voice will be heard, and where your book will be given the care it deserves, I’d love to hear from you.

Welcome to Bluebonnet Books. Let’s grow something beautiful together.
